As you probably know, the metal cover on a typical Telecaster neck pickup adds a bit of grittiness to the tone. Well, Lollar designed a custom nickel pickup cover for the Royal T to emulate the neck tone of a Stratocaster. They used a special selection of magnet type and length, a unique wind, and 42-gauge heavy build coil wire they typically use on Strat pickups. The result is a deeper, clearer, and punchier Strat-colored sound that combines the best of Blonde and Blackface tones.
While any bridge pairing will work, Lollar recommended pairing for this neck pickup with a Vintage T bridge for great results.
